Poster Recreation
Tools and Techniques
For my poster recreation, I decided to morph together the tv show friends poster with the scary movie 3 poster, my favorite show and my favorite movie. I started by uploading the friends background as my background and found the characters of scary movie that I wanted to use. I uploaded them to photoshop, each in their own tab, and used the lasso tool to outline the figure I wanted to use. Once I used the lasso tool and the character was cut out, I then made each figure a smart object so I can move it around independent of the background it was in, and finally put a mask on it in order to take only the figure out of the original photo and insert it into the poster I was creating. I did this with each character I used, including the cast of friends. Once I had everyone where I wanted them, I inserted the scream guy into the background and used the blending mode for the individual layer in order to fade out the scream guy into the background, changing the opacity. If I wanted to move around the smart objects, I had to free transform them first and finely tune where their placement. In the end, I added the text which was easy, using the text tool, and downloading the Friends font from the internet. To move around the text boxes, I had to also free transform them and put them where I desired. Finishing up, I faded out the characters at the bottom a little bit so their lines and colors were not so rigid because it made the poster look unnatural.
Video References
Videos I referenced during this time were primarily ones from weeks 3 and 4 that had to do with individual tools, such as converting things to smart objects and reminding myself how to free transform. I referenced videos from weeks 1 and 2 as well, such as what tools do what in adjustment layers and how to use the lasso tool again.
Before and After
Since this was a poster I created from scratch, I will show you the two posters I took inspiration from and what the final product looks like
